Location: Rio Rancho NM 87124 (Onsite)
Job Type : 12+ months contract (Possible Extension)

Pay Range: $22/hr. - $24/hr.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced L4 Hardware Server Install Technician to join our client's team onsite in Rio Rancho, NM. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support in a lab and data center environment, including server installation, hardware troubleshooting, and system upgrades. This role requires strong technical expertise in server hardware, networking components, and data center operations.

The technician will perform physical racking and stacking, system diagnostics, and configuration tasks, while also maintaining documentation and ensuring proper inventory control. Collaboration with architects, engineers, and network teams is essential to conduct system health analysis and recommend performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain data center server hardware and related components, including networking and storage equipment.
• Perform physical racking and stacking of servers and infrastructure equipment in lab/data center environments.
• Conduct hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting for servers, networking devices, and related systems.
• Support hardware and software configuration tasks according to documented procedures.
• Perform system upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain system documentation for lab and data center configurations, including customizations and changes.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and network engineers to perform system health checks and recommend performance improvements.
• Ensure safe lab operations, including adherence to inventory control and data center safety procedures.
• Manage and maintain hardware inventory tracking for servers and components.
• Respond to operational needs in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing urgent tasks when necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience working with data center hardware.
• Strong knowledge of server diagnostics, installation, and troubleshooting (hardware and software).
• Demonstrated experience installing server systems, networking equipment, and storage components.
• Familiarity with networking protocols, NIC installation, switches, routers, and related infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to lift 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers up to 35 lbs.
• Experience using pallet jacks and understanding of data center safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed written hardware/software configuration instructions.
• Ability to maintain strict inventory control processes and a safe lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of data center power systems and cable management.
• Experience with IP-KVM and remote console technologies.
