POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Managing Director - Head of Capital will lead all capital development, investor engagement, and business development initiatives for the firm. Reporting directly to the President, this executive will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive capital raising strategy to support the company's growth across its real estate investment platforms.

The SMD will oversee all regional sales efforts, investor relations, and marketing functions while building and managing relationships with institutional and private investors. This leader will leverage deep knowledge of capital markets, investor preferences, and fundraising processes to drive innovative approaches to capital formation across a range of investment structures.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding the firm's investor base and positioning the company as a leading, innovative, and impactful real estate investment management platform.

Essential Responsibilities

Capital Raising & Business Development



  • Lead the firm's overall capital formation strategy across all investment vehicles.
  • Drive new investor acquisition and deepen relationships with existing institutional and private investors.
  • Develop and execute targeted fundraising initiatives aligned with firm investment strategies.
  • Maintain direct relationships with key allocators.
  • Identify emerging capital sources and market opportunities to support the firm's growth initiatives.


Sales Leadership



  • Oversee all internal and external regional sales activities.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development team.
  • Establish fundraising targets, performance metrics, and accountability across the team.
  • Coordinate with investment and product teams to effectively position strategies in the marketplace.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, mentorship, and strategic guidance to the capital raising and investor relations team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with team members on investor strategy, meeting preparation, pipeline management, and deal execution to enhance fundraising effectiveness.


Investor Relations



  • Lead the firm's investor engagement and communications strategy.
  • Ensure high-quality investor reporting, transparency, and proactive relationship management.
  • Represent the firm in investor meetings, conferences, and industry events.


Marketing & Strategic Positioning



  • Oversee the development of the firm's marketing strategy, brand positioning, and messaging.
  • Collaborate with investment leadership to clearly articulate the firm's value proposition and differentiated investment strategies.
  • Guide the creation of marketing materials including fund presentations, thought leadership, and investor communications.
  • Ensure clear performance marketing strategy and associated initiatives.
  • Event strategy that will drive results.


Strategic Leadership



  • Serve as a senior member of the firm's leadership team and contribute to overall strategic planning.
  • Provide market intelligence and investor feedback to inform product development and investment strategy.
  • Partner with investment, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment between capital formation and execution capabilities.


Skills, Qualifications, Additional Responsibilities



  • Deep understanding of real estate investment structures.

  • Proven leadership ability with experience building and scaling teams.


Education & Technical Skills



  • 15+ years of experience in capital raising, institutional sales, or business development within real estate investment management, private equity, or alternative asset management.
  • Demonstrated track record of raising institutional capital across multiple investor channels.
  • Experience leading capital markets or fundraising teams at a senior level.
  • Strong existing relationships with institutional investors and capital allocators.
  • Experienced people leader.

Compensation Information:

Base salary range is $250,000 to $300,000. This range is estimated for this role; actual pay may be different.
