The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is seeking exceptional, highly motivated Genomic AI Fellows to join a high-impact initiative transforming the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of human disease through predictive genomic AI. This program aims to bridge the gap between large-scale genomic data and transformative clinical impact. The fellowship will provide early-career scientists with the resources and environment to develop next-generation Foundation Models (FMs) for the human genome. The Vision While DNA sequencing is now a clinical staple, the noncoding "dark matter" of the genome remains largely undeciphered. AI will play a key role in unlocking the sequence-to-function code. As a Genomic AI Fellow, you will collaborate with data generators, computational experts, and geneticists. You will leverage NYGC's massive, proprietary datasets, including single-cell multiomics and large-scale genetic perturbation datasets, to build models that predict how genetic variation influences cellular behavior and, ultimately, human health. Research Opportunities Genomic AI Fellows are encouraged to explore the frontier of genomic modeling, with access to high-resolution data and high-performance computing to address challenges such as:
Who You Are We are seeking "high-risk, high-reward" thinkers who thrive at the intersection of machine learning and biology.
Why the NYGC Genomic AI Fellowship? This is a platform for researchers to lead high-impact projects within a collaborative ecosystem. You will be paired with world-class computational expertise and gain direct access to genomics data and "in-production" multiomics pipelines. Your work will sit at the vanguard of precision medicine, translating the multiomics revolution into actionable biological insights. This position is offered as a one-year renewable appointment, with renewal based on performance, funding availability, and program needs. Salary & Benefits The pay for this position is $118,000 per year; this includes a $100,000 base pay and a $1,500 per month taxable postdoctoral housing allowance ($18,000 per year), a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, and generous time off. About the New York Genome Center The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. NYGC concentrates specifically on disease-based research in the following areas: neuropsychiatric disease (autism, schizophrenia, bipolar); neurodegenerative disease (ALS, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's), and cancer. Located in Lower Manhattan, the New York Genome Center was founded by and remains closely affiliated with the leading academic medical centers and research universities in the New York region, engaging in research projects with and for these institutions. Essential to our collaborative work is an outstanding faculty, whose members typically hold a joint appointment at NYGC and a partner university. They support our scientific mission by conducting independent research in areas of mutual interest to us and the wider scientific community. Equal Opportunity We are committed to fostering a workplace environment that is welcoming and fair to all, ensuring that every employee has the opportunity to thrive. We believe that bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives leads to greater collaboration, innovation, and discovery. Valuing and supporting each employee in reaching their full potential strengthens our organization and enhances our collective success. We recognize that creating an environment where all employees feel valued and included requires sustained effort and dedication from the entire organization. The New York Genome Center is a VEVRAA Federal Contractor. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, creed, color, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic predisposition or carrier status, protected veteran or military status, domestic violence victim status, partnership status, caregiver status, alienage or citizenship status, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
