Job Summary:

Akebia is looking for talented and motivated individual to serve as a Data Engineer. As a crucial member of the IT Team, you will work with some of the industry's latest technologies in support of a highly focused and entrepreneurial department furthering key business initiatives. The Data Engineer will have to have a solid background in key technologies as well as application automation, data integration, and systems implementation experience. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated IT professional, inspired by technology and its use in an ever changing, fast paced environment to automate inefficient processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Reports to Senior Director Information Security & Data to manage multiple concurrent and potentially interconnected timelines, prioritizing deliverables, and keeping key stakeholders involved and informed of changes and consequences

* Work with departmental management, IT partners, outside vendors, and internal stakeholders to plan, implement, integrate, administer, and support applications for Regulatory, Safety/Pharmacovigilance, CMC, Quality, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, and G&A functions

* Designs and develops data pipelines that extract data from various sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into the appropriate data storage systems

* Integrates data from different sources, including databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems

* Lead cross-functional teams to manage master data, integration, and reporting projects

* Build and lead integration platform roadmap and administer current integration tool-sets.

* Document current and future data flows, data locations, integration tool configurations.

* Build and manage Integration API library.

* Support and Manage File Transfer Services.

* Technical lead on systems projects and implementations.

* Design, develop, maintain, and support data integrations and ETL processes.

* Be a key member of a data warehousing project and bring technical expertise to the team both on the data integration and data reporting sides.

* Continue to develop and mature subject matter expertise on enterprise data the company utilizes and bases decisions on and how it relates to other data and data sets.

* Manage service providers and vendors to ensure full end-to-end support for data integrations, and processes in supported functions

* Keep abreast of industry technology best practices and proactively look to disrupt inefficient systems and processes for the betterment of the company

* Administer application integration platforms including Celigo

* Provide user administration for NetSuite ERP system.

* Administer NetSuite ERP system modules to provide needed configurations to integrate non-NetSuite systems with NetSuite through Akebia integration technology stack

* Maintain and Administer ERP test environments for ERP system upgrades, application integrations, and ERP related business process changes

* Support and administer data security posture management solution and help define data security categorization and classifications

* Develop data governance strategies and approaches

* Define AI data boundaries and integrations and develop use cases where AI can be leveraged for automation or innovation

Basic Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, information systems, or related field or equivalent Life Sciences IT experience.

* 3+ years of experience with data integration tools (Informatica Cloud, Boomi, Fivetran, dbt, Hightouch etc.)

* Working knowledge or current IT Security principles and SSO infrastructure (Okta preferred)

* Proven ability to work on cross functional projects and contribute significantly to achieve meaningful business goals

* Hands on experience with Tier 1 ERP System operation, configuration, and support

* Proven experience with Pharmaceutical Data Management - data consolidation and normalization, data investigation, data modeling, and data validation methods

* Experience with data reporting and visualization tools (Oracle BI, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

* Experience with data warehousing technologies (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)

* Effectively communicate complex concepts with vendors, co-workers and management, both verbally and in writing

* Must have a passion for learning about new systems and tools and keeping abreast of the latest technologies to best serve the business

* Strong knowledge of G&A, commercial, R&D, and technical operations life sciences functional business lines/processes and the applied core technologies to enable the organization to operate efficiently

* Experience effectively managing vendors to achieve business goals while maintaining project timelines and budget

* Experience project managing application, integration, and reporting projects throughout the entire project lifecycle including requirements gathering and documentation, vendor selection, implementation tracking, risk/issue management, change management as well as system documentation, release, and training

* Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving capability

* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment. Self- starter, hands-on attitude and out of the box thinking.



Preferred Qualifications



* Master's degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, information systems, or related field

* Experience working at a life sciences company

* Experience as a business analyst, including identification of non-technical business requirements, translating specifications into solution designs, ensuring quality and successful testing, financial and resource management

Compensation:

Targeted Base: *123,279-152,286

*Base Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Base pay is only one component of the company's total rewards package, all regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or the incentive compensation program (if applicable), as well as equity. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, etc.
