Job Summary
An advanced manufacturing facility supporting high-precision aerospace and industrial components is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support the launch of a newly installed horizontal machining center. This role will focus on developing machining processes from concept through production, including fixture detailing, tooling strategy, and NC programming. The position will work closely with manufacturing engineers and machinists to prepare parts for initial prove-out and support the ramp-up of multiple upcoming machining projects. This is a hands-on role within a precision machining environment where the programmer will translate work-in-progress concepts into fully developed machining processes. The ideal candidate will have strong experience programming horizontal machining centers, creating tooling packages, and developing fixture solutions to support repeatable production.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop CNC programs using Mastercam for horizontal machining centers
*Convert existing fixture, tooling, and programming concepts into detailed manufacturing processes
*Design and detail workholding fixtures and coordinate fixture builds
*Develop tooling strategies and create complete tooling packages for machining operations
*Support the launch and ramp-up of a newly installed horizontal machining center
*Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and machinists to prove out programs and optimize machining processes
*Troubleshoot programming, setup, and tooling challenges during initial part runs
*Prepare setup documentation and machining instructions for production
*Support multiple upcoming machining projects as new parts are introduced into the machining cell
Technical Environment
*Horizontal machining center (Okuma MA-4000H)
*OSP-P500 control system
*Mastercam for CNC programming
*Large tool capacity machining center (180-tool capability)
*Initial materials include aluminum billet components
*Moderate to complex part geometries
Required Qualifications
*5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment
*Proficiency using Mastercam or similar CAM software
*Experience programming horizontal machining centers
*Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and workholding design
*Ability to develop CNC programs from part models, prints, or process concepts
*Experience supporting program prove-out and troubleshooting machining operations
*Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience programming Okuma machines and OSP controls
*Experience supporting new machine installations or production ramp-ups
*Experience machining aluminum or aerospace components
*Knowledge of fixture design and workholding strategies for horizontal machining centers
*Experience supporting multi-project machining environments
Additional Requirements
*Ability to work onsite at the Orchard Park, NY manufacturing facility
*Must meet eligibility requirements for working within an export-controlled manufacturing environment (U.S. Person status required)
