THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic part-time Food Service Worker to join our dedicated dietary services team at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. In this role, you will receive ongoing training to strengthen your knowledge of food preparation methods, sanitation standards, and food service regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Food Service Workers play an important role in supporting meal preparation while ensuring a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other food service items. You will also assist with assembling meal trays, measuring and portioning food accurately, serving meals, and delivering trays and nourishment to designated areas. Additionally, this position involves safely operating a variety of kitchen equipment, including mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders, to support efficient kitchen operations and ensure high-quality food service standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 20 hours per week
  • Work hours are 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
