Focus: We are seeking a motivated Facilities Electrical Engineer to manage and improve the electrical infrastructure of a large-scale industrial ammunition manufacturing facility operated for the Department of Defense (DOD). This role is critical for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of medium-voltage (12.47kV) distribution, low-voltage (480V) power systems, emergency power, lightning protection, and grounding systems. The successful candidate will apply expert knowledge of the NEC, NFPA 70E, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) to maintain a mission-critical industrial environment.

Electrical Engineer- Facilities Essential Job Functions

  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of medium-voltage (12.47kV) and low-voltage (480V) distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, protective relays, generators, and UPS units.
  • System Design & Compliance: Design and implement electrical upgrades and facility expansions, ensuring strict adherence to NEC, NFPA 70E, and UFC standards.
  • Lightning Protection: Manage and maintain facility-wide lightning protection systems to safeguard sensitive manufacturing operations.
  • Project Documentation: Develop comprehensive vendor Scopes of Work (SOWs) and System Requirement Documents (SRDs) for the electrical sections of capital and facility projects.
  • Project Management: Lead electrical projects by coordinating with contractors and vendors while monitoring technical specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure all electrical activities comply with site safety protocols, including LOTO, arc flash safety, and rigorous safety audits.
  • Emergency Response: Provide technical support and leadership during emergency power outages or critical facility electrical failures.

Electrical Engineer- Facilities Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science* in Electrical Engineering. Electrical Engineering degree must be completed by June 2026.
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required). Candidates with 2 years full-time experience with recent electrical engineer experience do not require GPA documentation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E.
  • Equipment Expertise: Proven experience with protective relaying, industrial switchgear, transformers, and emergency standby systems.
  • Skills: Proficiency in reading/interpreting electrical one-line diagrams and schematics; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to write technical scopes of work and project requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for DOD facilities. Experience performing power system studies using SKM software. Familiarity with industrial lightning protection and grounding standards.

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • Must have a valid US Drivers License.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
