Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, including every other weekend and holidays. Position summary Working in Environmental Services makes you an integral part of our hospital. You'll work with diverse employees and see all aspects of our hospital functions while ensuring that colleagues have a clean and safe environment to properly treat patients. Environmental Service positions are currently eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus for candidates who are not already employees of Boston Children's Hospital. Key responsibilities Performing hard floor care including dusting and damp mopping Performing carpet and furniture care including vacuuming, spot removal, and shampooing Collecting and disposing of trash, soiled linen, and recyclable materials; replacing receptacle liners and recycling collection totes Cleaning horizontal and vertical surfaces including vents, light fixtures, window ledges, and door surfaces Cleaning restrooms, sanitizing fixtures, and replenishing restroom supplies Cleaning and maintaining assigned areas including stairwells, elevators, water fountains, walls, windows, furniture, IV poles, baseboards, wheelchairs, toys, glassware, and equipment Changing curtains, draperies, blinds, and shades as assigned Operating electric and battery-powered equipment for cleaning services and rearranging furniture or equipment Picking up necessary supplies, packing regulated medical waste, responding to floods or other emergencies, and wearing protective clothing as required Removing soiled linens or protective coverings and cleaning and remaking beds, stretchers, and exam tables Minimum qualifications Education: Ability to read and understand written instructions in English Ability to add and subtract numbers and make comparisons between numbers and letters Experience: Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions in English Ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information Ability to maintain courteous interactions when occasionally contacting patients and/or visitors Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, including every other weekend and holidays. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
