Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a dynamic municipal location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to situations with calm, professional communication. You will support staff and visitors with strong customer service while documenting activity and reporting concerns. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting events and communicating with site contacts and/or dispatch.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Operate in accordance with Allied Universal and site firearms policies, including maintaining required permits and/or qualifications and handling assigned equipment responsibly.
  • Monitor access points and observe for unusual activity, helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or policy violations, and reporting conditions that may require attention.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
