Job Description
THE ROLE: Director, AI Enablement & Strategy This new Director, AI Enablement & Strategy role within Legal & Business Affairs (L&BA) is an operational, advisory, and AI-focused position that will serve as the primary liaison to A+E Factual Studios to accelerate the responsible development and use of Generative AI (GenAI) in content creation. The Director will work closely with creative, development, and production teams to interpret and apply A+E's GenAI Standards for Content Creation and Responsibilities when using GenAI. The role supports day-to-day decision-making involving GenAI tools, creative ideation, rights issues, likeness use, documentation, and transparency disclosures-ensuring that A+E Factual Studio's use of AI is consistent with A+E's legal obligations and ethical and brand standards.
Beyond its core Factual Studios support mission, the role also contributes to enterprise-wide GenAI governance, helping to align GenAI deployment with A+E's values and policies across legal, creative, and technology functions. The Director will support the operationalization of GenAI policies across teams, coordinate with Technology and Legal on the review and rollout of internal AI tools, and stay current on regulatory, contractual, and IP implications of emerging case law as it applies to AI use cases. The role may, at times, require tactical engagement-such as reviewing AI outputs or prompt design, evaluating tool risk, or helping implement AI-powered legal workflows. Success in this role requires strong AI fluency, practical risk awareness, change management skills, and cross-functional coordination. The Director will also support escalation and incidentresponse processes for AI misuse, unauthorized AI-generated content, or reputational risk events, ensuring clear pathways for review, mitigation, and documentation. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Director, AI Enablement & Strategy Support for A+E Factual Studios: AI Liaison, Policy Implementation, and Enablement:
- Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison to A+E Factual Studios on GenAI-related content development, partnering with creative, development, and production teams to ensure responsible, policy-compliant use of AI.
- Operationalize A+E's Responsible AI Framework and GenAI Standards by providing real-time guidance, creating reference tools (e.g., FAQs, checklists), and escalating complex use cases to Legal or Risk when needed.
- Deliver targeted training to Producers and Executives to reinforce GenAI compliance, promote ethical use, and build a culture of responsible innovation.
Support for Other Creative Teams (Programming, Marketing, Digital, etc.):
- Provide targeted guidance to additional creative-facing departments on AI-related initiatives in Marketing, Digital content, and Programming divisions.
- Help interpret and apply A+E's GenAI policies in the context of their distinct workflows and content risks.
- Escalate high-visibility or novel use cases (e.g., platform-specific restrictions, branded campaigns) to Legal or Risk.
Cross-Functional Coordination on GenAI Use:
- Partner with stakeholders in Technology, Standards & Practices, Rights, and Risk, among other groups, to resolve AI-related implementation questions and help maintain alignment with enterprise policy while protecting creative flexibility.
- Participate in governance discussions and support the continuous improvement of A+E's AI guardrails.
- Collaborate with Technology on responsible AI feature development, internal tool evaluation, and vendor procurement assessments to ensure compliance with security, IP, and content standards.
AI-Driven Legal Workflow Optimization :
- Contribute to the evaluation and responsible adoption of GenAI tools within L&BA that support internal efficiencies (e.g., content reviews, knowledge management, documentation workflows).
- Ensure all implementations adhere to the same standards expected of creative teams, particularly regarding security, IP protection, and responsible use.
Strategic Foresight and Industry Monitoring:
- Track emerging legal, policy, and technological developments-including IP litigation, union positions, AI platform restrictions, and global disclosure requirements.
- Summarize implications for A+E and help ensure our policies remain current and defensible.
- Participate in relevant industry forums and professional groups to monitor best practices and evolving standards in Responsible AI and provide informed recommendations to leadership.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Director, AI Enablement & Strategy
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Media/Communications, or a related discipline; advanced degrees (e.g., JD, MBA, Master's in AI/Data Science) are a plus; an AI-specialty degree or certificate is also a plus.
- 6-10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: content risk management, legal and business affairs, technology strategy, AI policy/governance, or creative operations-preferably within the media, entertainment, or technology sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of generative AI and other emerging AI technologies, including an understanding of their creative applications, operational implications, and associated risks.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory issues surrounding content creation and AI use, including intellectual property, likeness rights, global rights clearance, data privacy, and platform disclosure obligations.
- Demonstrated success implementing or interpreting corporate policies, governance frameworks, or content standards in a fast-evolving environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal, technical, or policy concepts into actionable guidance for creative and operational stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive alignment across functions, and influence decision-making at multiple levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a refined sense of judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and collaborative, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, adapt quickly, and operate effectively across creative, legal, and technology teams.
Compensation
Annual Pay Range: $183,761 - $215,000
Annual Incentive Target: 17.50%
