Job Description




As a Security Officer - Municipal Patrol in Columbus, OH, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a busy government transportation location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access points and communicate clearly with riders, staff, and visitors while documenting concerns and escalating issues as needed. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, transit facility and vehicle yard policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with dispatch, operations staff, and local public agencies as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of transit stations, platforms, parking areas, maintenance locations, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and assist with controlling entry to restricted areas, verifying credentials when required and/or directing visitors to the appropriate location.
  • Complete accurate reports on incidents, patrol activity, and observed hazards, and communicate relevant updates to site leadership per post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
