What to Expect
The Mechanical Engineer, Measurement Engineering role is both a practical and analytical position. A successful candidate will be responsible for developing dimensional standards and practices while driving measurement plan creation and implementation, as well as leading E-Cube fixture design and commissioning for various programs. This includes, but isn't limited to, Gauge and Fixture design, setup, and qualifications; Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility and Correlation/Linearity Studies; Measurement Plan creation; Dimensional Stack Up Analysis; and Design Change Recommendations/proposals. These functions will need review of manufacturing processes, current build quality, and part/assembly design to drive improvements across all Tesla Programs.
Global Dimensional Systems and Documents will be reviewed and developed to improve design processes and measurement plan implementation. The Measurement Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing, Design, Supplier, and Quality Engineering Teams to provide measurement plans and fixtures needed to define, measure, analyze, improve and control product and process quality from their respective shops. The successful candidate must have mechanical aptitude, the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented and be able to both take direction and work independently.
