The NICU Nurse Manager sets direction and partners with the multidisciplinary NICU Leadership Team for the largest birthing hospital in the state of WI. The Manager has twenty-four-hour accountability for the clinical and administrative leadership of the assigned patient care area, supported by an onsite Nursing Administrative Coordinator (NAC) team. The position assures the delivery of quality patient care, excellent family experience and accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the UnityPoint Health Meriter system. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the control, coordination and evaluation of human, material and fiscal resources in the assigned patient care area. The Nurse Manager is responsible for promoting a collaborative environment in which excellence in patient care can be delivered.

The Nurse Manager has the opportunity and responsibility to partner with a nationally recognized neonatology team in the implementation of new initiatives that support UnityPoint Health Meriter's strategic priorities; these initiatives may or may not eventually become more operational daily. Examples include new technology or innovations in patient care, patient care data analysis, and ongoing structural reorganization to meet health care demands / managing both the physical and emotional impact.

Education:
  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
    • MSN not required upon hire, but expectation is that graduate degree is being actively pursued - MS in Business or health related field will be considered if BSN background
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of NICU nursing experience
Certification/License:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Other:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of usual and customary equipment used to preform essential functions of the position
