Job Description Johnson County Airport Commission (JCAC) is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Airport Maintenance Specialist. JCAC is responsible for the operation and maintenance of grounds and facilities at two airports, a short line railroad, a water distribution system, airport fleet services, and a business park. The Airport Maintenance Specialist position falls within a career progression program allowing employees to demonstrate proficiency in the various aspects of work with multiple levels of position based upon candidate qualifications and experience, Airport Specialist I, and II. This position will be filled as either an Airport Maintenance Specialist I, or Airport Maintenance Specialist II based on the selected candidates' qualifications. The salary ranges for each level are listed below. Actual salary will be based on candidate qualifications. Posting will remain open until filled. Job duties include the following:
Independently performs routine and non-routine semi-skilled and skilled tasks under limited supervision in the completion of maintenance tasks supporting at least two areas of operations including airport facilities, water systems, fleet services, and rail services; performs maintenance duties such as painting, light plumbing, cleaning shop and equipment areas; builds, fixes, and maintains fencing; completes routine, non-routine, and complex preventative maintenance on building/plant equipment; assists skilled workers in completing a variety of skilled tasks in other functional areas.
Job Requirements All new hires must obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of hire in order to continue employment. CDL training and associated cost will be provided by the Johnson County Airport Commission. All new hires must successfully complete the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) ACE Airfield Operations course within two years of hire in order to continue employment. ACE Airfield Operations training and associated cost will be provided by the Johnson County Airport Commission. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Minimum Qualifications
Airport Maintenance Specialist I: To be eligible for consideration, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and an acceptable driving record. One year of related experience is preferred. For facility and airfield operations, experience with electrical systems troubleshooting and repair is preferred. The pay range for this level is $23.18/hour - $31.37/hour. Airport Maintenance Specialist II: To be eligible for consideration, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and an acceptable driving record. Three years of related experience is also required. For railroad operations, certification as a conductor is required. For facility operations, four years of experience at the apprentice level with electrical troubleshooting and repair is required. For water system operations, a Water Operator Certificate is required. A Vo-Tech certificate or degree in Agricultural, Automotive or Construction Technology, or other related fields of study is preferred. For airfield operations, ASOS certification and experience with electrical systems troubleshooting and repair are preferred. The pay range for this level is $26.19/hour - $35.43/hour.
