Description Plumber I will be under general supervision and perform entry level plumbing tasks and service as needed. Will support ongoing facility operations initiated through work requests or as assigned by the Shift Engineers during hours the Call center is closed, or a member of management is not on site in accordance with Hospital standards. Will provide direct general labor support to all trades. Will be responsible for the procurement and pick up of any and all materials requested by trades. Perform low level installations, equipment assembly, troubleshooting, and repairs of all plumbing related equipment and maintain general building systems and structure. Will install and repair domestic water piping as well as heating water loops and sewer lines as needed. Un-clog sinks, commodes, waste hoppers, drainage lines as directed. Respond for low-level request in order of priority and assist both with routine-to-complex request on an as needed basis. Ensure smooth transition of responsibilities to next shift. Respond to all hospital emergencies including but not limited to leaks, odors and fire alarms. Plumber I will perform general facility cleanups of debris, construction materials, etc. Ensure repairs and new installation are compliant with current plumbing codes. Report all concerns to the designated specialist or manager. This position may be subject to variable hours or shifts.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and or arms and to talk and hear. The employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must lift and or move up to 50lbs
Qualifications

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years of related experience, including an apprenticeship in a related field. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of the Plumbing Code.
Math ability: basic algebra.
Frequent bend/stoop, sit, stand/walk and reach 8-12 hrs. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull >40<75 pound. PC Operating Systems and mobile work entry devices. Proficient knowledge of the Intranet, some Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel). Customer Service Skills, calculator and copy machine.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Apprentice Plumber License (Required)
Drivers License (Required) Med Gas Certification 1 1/2 Yrs (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Material Management

  • Identify material and tool needs and make sure purchase orders and reports are legible, accurate, complete and on time.
  • Use and maintain hard and power tools as well as precision measuring and test instruments.
  • Coordinate and assist with project needs inclusive of ordering materials.
  • Compile list of materials to be ordered and submit to supervisor.
  • Complete and submit daily summary sheet.

Code Compliance

  • Make sure that all plumbing work is completed within codes by the governing body having jurisdiction.
  • Establish and ensure compliance with work schedules.
  • Comply with all safety regulations to include but not limited to hospital regulations, OSHA and other applicable guidelines

Corrective and Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform corrective maintenance on equipment and plumbing system in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing equipment and system to determine functional and structural problems.
  • Maintain corrective tickets, PM cards, project sheets and status board up-to-date.
  • Troubleshoot and preempt emergencies by troubleshooting problem areas in hospital; based on data analysis, works with Eng Mgmt identify potential areas of concern in the hospital.
  • Document trends in equipment performance and recommend corrective action or replacement.

Quality Assurance

  • Take the initiative to identify and report deficiencies in the physical plant of the hospital.
  • Diagnose and resolve trouble ticket/work orders thoroughly until completed.
  • When necessary, routinely follow-up with manager to communicate or request assistance in order to complete work orders.
  • Follow-up with requestor after completion of a work order to ensure problem has been corrected.
  • Routinely utilize all safety measures as related to work orders and specific task.
  • Comply with all safety regulations to include but not limited to hospital regulations, OSHA and other applicable guidelines.

Internal Relations

  • Prepare requisitions for e-works; upon receipt, follow up with the requestor steps for completion of work order and provide any follow up information.
  • At all times represent the engineering staff in a professional and helpful manner .
  • Communicate with staff and management to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Support the work efforts of the team.
  • Assist new team members with general information when necessary.
  • Act as a member of the internal engineering emergency response team.
