The Dean's Office Assistant provides highlevel administrative support to the Office of the Dean and plays an essential role in maintaining the efficient operation of the Dean's Suite. This role requires discretion, independent judgment, and the ability to handle complex and sensitive administrative tasks while representing Duke Law with professionalism and care.

What You'll Do:

Administrative & Office Operations

* Serve as the Dean's Office liaison with Law School administrative personnel, university offices, and external agencies.

* Provide general administrative support to the Dean's Office.

* Provide backup administrative support to the Assistant to the Dean.

* Maintain files, records, reports, and correspondence.

* Greet visitors and manage traffic into the Dean's Suite.

* Answer and manage the Dean's Office telephone line.

* Manage scheduling for the Nasher Conference Room.

Professionalism & Confidentiality

* Demonstrate exceptional professionalism, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills.

* Serve as a courteous, respectful, and polished first point of contact for the Dean's Office.

Faculty & Committee Support

* Provide administrative support to key faculty committees.

* Support faculty reappointment processes.

* Assist with adjunct faculty onboarding.

* Compile information for the University Bulletin.

* Support Professional Skills Appointments hiring searches.

Financial & Procurement Responsibilities

* Process procurement card purchases, travel, requisitions, and reimbursements.

* Verify and reconcile expenditures.

* Maintain accurate financial records.

Additional Duties

* Assist with special projects and programs.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Education

* Two years of post-secondary education in secretarial science or a related business field.

Experience

* Four years of related secretarial/clerical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Exceptional organization and problemsolving abilities.

* Ability to manage multiple deadlines.

* Strong attention to detail and followthrough.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Anticipated Pay Range

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $19.80 to USD $30.63. Total compensation includes comprehensive medical/dental programs, retirement benefits, and familyfriendly programs.
