Position Summary:

The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for in-depth complex financial analysis of commercial loan requests for the purpose of recommending and decisioning new commercial lending opportunities, as well as existing portfolio loans, while noting any deviations from the Commercial Loan Policy as appropriate and any alternative structures that would assist in risk mitigation. The senior role focuses on larger and more intricate loan transactions, requiring advanced financial expertise and experience in commercial credit. The incumbent will complete a thorough analysis of financial statements, assessing creditworthiness of Borrowers and Guarantors, and determining the risks associated with the loan requested and associated mitigants. The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst will train and mentor the Commercial Credit Analyst.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform comprehensive and advanced evaluation of complex financial statements, tax returns, organizational charts and other financial documents to determine the borrower's ability to repay the loan.
  • Evaluate complex credit requests, including large loan applications and various complex ownership structures to determine risks to repayment and mitigating factors.
  • Prepare in-depth historical financial analysis, projection financial analysis, and stress-testing for larger middle market transactions.
  • Focus on larger and more significant loan transactions with the potential to have material impact on the loan portfolio.
  • Recommend appropriate loan term and structures.
  • Identify key secondary sources of repayment such as collateral and guarantor strengths.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers to gather necessary information and clarify details.
  • Construct detailed credit memos for presentation to Loan Approval Committee.
  • Actively participate in Loan Approval Committee to answer questions regarding credit analysis, as necessary.
  • Proactively monitor loan portfolios to identify signs of potential changes in risk profile and ensure ongoing credit quality by conducting research on market conditions and trends to understand risk and opportunity facing borrowers in different industries.
  • Monitor assigned credits on a quarterly basis, and report any payment discrepancies, or developing problems directly to relationship managers and management.
  • Identify potential modification to loan structure to help mitigate identified risk.
  • Review and reconcile construction draw requests.
  • Perform analysis of Everwise's other credit products.
  • Actively engage in community service and promotional events, to foster personal development and enhance Everwise's positive reputation in the community.
  • Provide training, guidance and mentorship to Commercial Credit Analysts.
  • Support Commercial Credit management in devising and executing resolution plans of audit findings and loan committee requests
  • Participate in ongoing education and Department training activities.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required for the growth and advancement of Everwise.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive Corporate and Commercial loan experience, knowledge across diverse industries, and commercial real estate asset classes.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial data and credit reports for businesses of all sizes. Uphold impeccable integrity by safeguarding the best interest of Everwise and its members through prudent lending practices and risk mitigation.
  • Robust knowledge of business and contract laws.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, loan services, and credit risk policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Advanced skills in commercial financial software (Baker Hill Nextgen and/or Laser Pro) and Microsoft office suite (MS Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Understand and adhere to government laws, and regulations, and Everwise's policies and procedures concerning Anti-Money Laundering Regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US PATRIOT ACT, and OFAC.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • 4+years' experience in corporate and commercial underwriting or related experience within the financial services industry.
  • Experience underwriting Commercial Real Estate, Small Business Administration, and C&I loans preferred.
