Job Description:

At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world's largest enterprises.

At Cloudera, the Product Security group is the cornerstone of trust, ensuring our platforms are secure by design and meet the highest government and industry standards. We are seeking a software engineer for our Accreditation Engineering team. In this role, you will be a vital link between security requirements and operational execution and focus on the stability, performance, and reliability of our government cloud environments.

As a Software Engineer at this level, you will work under general direction to independently resolve challenging troubleshooting and production issues. You will be responsible for assisting in the diagnosis of root-cause component-level outages and priority escalations, demonstrating a solid understanding of large-scale distributed systems.

As a Software Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure the stability of all Government Product environments (dev, int, stage, and prod), focusing on product-related stability and system performance.

  • Perform initial triaging of cloud cluster stability issues and collaborate across functional teams, such as service and cloud delivery teams, to ensure fixes are deployed and environments remain stable.

  • Test and harden newly developed security tooling and infrastructure-as-code templates, ensuring they meet rigorous security standards and are resilient for production use.

  • Replicate complex procedures and technical issues to identify root causes, then demonstrate solutions to stakeholders and internal teams to prevent recurrence.

  • Drive monthly promotions across all government product environments, ensuring seamless deployments and a consistent delivery cadence.

  • Improve system performance and reliability by addressing engineering controls required for FedRAMP, ENS, and other government certifications.

  • Prepare environments and streamline processes for annual audits and handle customer escalations, working through remediation steps to maintain compliance and security posture.

We're excited about you if you have (Required Qualifications):

  • B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science / related field with 6+ years of experience. Additional experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.

  • United States citizen working in the U.S.

  • Solid technical background in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS (EKS, EC2, S3) and Kubernetes.

  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to root cause component-level outages and handle complex P1 escalations.

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm to manage environment consistency.

  • Proficiency in scripting and general-purpose languages to automate operational tasks, system hardening, and patches.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to draft clear technical documentation and interact professionally with internal stakeholders.

You may also have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms like Github or Jenkins to manage artifact promotion and vulnerability remediation workflows.

  • Familiarity with security scanning tools (e.g., Trivy, Aquasec, or Tenable Nessus) and vulnerability management standards.

  • Experience performance testing and tuning relational databases

  • Experience load testing applications

  • Knowledge of government compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FIPS, or ISO 27001.

  • Familiarity with Python and Java

  • Experience in incident response and creating recovery playbooks for distributed services.

  • Ability to work across geographical boundaries to optimize solutions and share technical knowledge with the team.

What you can expect from us:

  • Generous PTO Policy

  • Support work life balance with Unplugged Days

  • Flexible WFH Policy

  • Mental & Physical Wellness programs

  • Phone and Internet Reimbursement program

  • Access to Continued Career Development

  • Comprehensive Benefits and Competitive Packages

  • Paid Volunteer Time
