About us

One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will propose concepts to solve customer problems. You will create the system along with our customers by bringing to bear technology assets across Viasat Government and our partners. The products and systems you will be defining are in V-Band Crosslinks, Radar and SIGINT applications. You will develop the algorithms necessary to solve a wide range of DSP challenges. You will build system solutions from your algorithms by transitioning them from simulations to instantiations on DSP/FPGA/GPU platforms.

The day-to-day

The DSP work can be broken into three major development cycles that fall under your responsibility:

  • Floating-point simulation (Matlab) - Starting with a customer challenge, you will research, then design, the DSP algorithms required to solve that challenge
  • Fixed-point modeling (Simulink) - Given the evidence provided from floating-point simulation, you will build a digital logic model that proves how logic blocks can process equivalent math within the constraints of the platform (when applicable)
  • Lab implementation support - From the fixed-point modeling, you will generate test vectors that must be matched by team members in the Digital group. You will support the Digital team's implementation and ultimately lead the performance of the DSP algorithm as it is applied to the specific platform

Additional Information:

  • This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

  • As an Early Career hire, you will participate in our Graduate Development Program during your first 12+ months at Viasat. This program is designed to support your transition from university to the workplace through dedicated mentorship, building relationships with your cohort of new grad hires, technical upskilling, soft skills development and more to ensure you're set up for success as you begin your professional journey with Viasat
