Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Technical Support and Field Service, this role serves as a mechanical technical support specialist, providing post-sales expertise and training to authorized channel partners on Gardner Denver Blower and Vacuum products. The ideal candidate brings experience with blowers or similar rotating equipment and demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to disassemble, diagnose, and rebuild machinery-experience in diesel or automotive repair is highly valued. A solid understanding of basic electrical systems is also important, particularly the ability to read schematics and work safely with low voltage (24-110V). Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert mechanical, technical support to channel technicians, leveraging contact management systems to deliver problem-solving assistance, resolving complex product and system issues while maintaining professional customer interaction.
- Lead resolution of customer issues with ownership and follow-through, proactively troubleshooting and ensuring full issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Manage and develop knowledge resources, including creating and updating knowledge articles, technical bulletins, fault trees, and troubleshooting guides to enhance technician effectiveness.
- Collaborate across teams by communicating with engineering, operations, and management to understand product specifications, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
- Document and report complex technical findings through technical assessments, developing clear reports outlining issues, root causes, and recommended actions.
- Support quality and reliability tracking by inputting critical issues into the QRMS system to facilitate data-driven improvements.
- Contribute to training development and delivery by assisting in designing and delivering training materials such as presentations and workshops for channel partners and internal teams.
- Support new product development initiatives, including providing serviceability input, field trials, upgrades, and ensuring technical support readiness for new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or relevant technical and work experience equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in a mechanical technical work environment.
Core Competencies
- Proficiency in MS Office applications - PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
- Strong presentation skills - capable of engaging customers, channel partners, management, and peers.
- Core competencies including excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building, conflict resolution, self-motivation, and effective planning and organization.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
- Fully Site Based
- Up to 25%, with the possibility of some international travel.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $65,000 - $85,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
