What You Do.



  • Conducts project identification, concept development, estimates, designs, project control & tracking (scope, schedule, cost), system start-up, system training, and project closeout services.
  • Secures resources for successful project implementations and then leads project development phases with internal teams, internal engineering, and external consultants.
  • Integrates varied engineering disciplines (construction, electrical, structural, and more) as required.
  • Provides on-site construction leadership for capital projects while acting as the primary interface with contractors providing direction and oversight on safety, schedule, cost, change management, and quality installation.
  • Supports large construction projects with an emphasis on mechanical building systems.
  • Supports manufacturing facilities by troubleshooting and helping facilitate solutions for issues including compressed air, steam systems, ammonia refrigeration, water/waste water systems, fire protection, HVAC, and building automation.
  • Coordinates training for new equipment and systems for technicians.
  • Provides timely project communications to keep stakeholders informed of project progress.
  • Adheres to and implements the Facilities Engineering Process (FEP) on all projects.
  • Ensures that projects result in food safe, people safe, and ergonomically friendly solutions.
  • Provides manufacturing facilities with information required for creation of training documents, preventative maintenance plans, and ordering spare parts.
  • Effectively presents information to project teams, top management, and plant leadership.
  • Stays current with technology and industry best practices to provide Sargento with best available technology solutions.
  • Assists with compliance with all DNR, PSM, OSHA and other facility related regulatory needs with construction projects.


Provides and coordinates engineering services with internal and external stakeholders:



  • Coordinates with internal CAD drafting resources and assures proper drawing methods, approvals, control, and archival.
  • Works cross-functionally with various internal stakeholders, such as Research & Development, Innovation, Quality, IT, Manufacturing, and HR.
  • Works with Indirect Procurement to provide specifications, bid preparation, and bid solicitation to secure best pricing for Sargento.


TRAVEL



  • Daily travel between facilities and local suppliers is to be expected with the use of the person's own vehicle required.
  • Overnight travel will be occasionally required to support projects or for training purposes.
  • Extended periods of overnight travel may occasionally be required to support project and manufacturing needs at current and future manufacturing operations not within the immediate Plymouth area.


Your Education and Experience.



  • Position requires a technical based Bachelor of Science in a relevant technical area of Engineering, with a focus on mechanical engineering.


  • At least 2 years (Project Engineer) or 5 years (Senior Project Engineer) combined progressive engineering experience within a manufacturing industry, preferably food, with demonstrated experience working in the areas listed under What You Do.
  • Additional educational courses will be required as needed to sustain departmental/individual technological levels.
  • Licensed Engineer is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Food industry construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Project management experience running and assisting in capital projects is required.
  • Effective computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Excel, Internet, Outlook, and CAD.
