MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals are currently seeking an Associate Medical Director to join the team in coastal Maine.

The Associate Medical Director will partner with the Medical Director of Anesthesia Services, OR nursing directors, Medical Director of Surgical Services, and Lead CRNA to lead the administrative and clinical operations of the OR and Anesthesia Team to ensure quality of care, patient safety, patient, provider and employee satisfaction and efficient use of resources. The Associate Medical Director is responsible for addressing the needs of the Anesthesia group while aligning with the mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and organizational aims of Waldo Hospital, Pen Bay Hospital, MaineHealth, and the MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG).

The position will be split between clinical and administrative time.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Active and unrestricted State of ME medical license, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Board certified or board eligible in anesthesia.
  • Active and unrestricted DEA license, or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with MHMG and hospital leadership, participate in all recruitment needs for the Anesthesia and CRNA team and support any new providers with a successful onboarding process.
  • Participate in the evaluation process for anesthesia providers including annual performance reviews, ongoing professional practice evaluations (OPPE), focused professional practice evaluations (FPPE), medical staff appointment/reappointments, and any necessary corrective actions.
  • Facilitate and support efforts to ensure quality and safety as well as productivity and operational efficiency of the department with consideration of appropriate resource utilization.
  • Review and respond to any patient related complaints/grievances.
  • Advocate for the needs of the group and hold the organization accountable to the commitments the organization has made to the group.
  • Advocate to clinicians and staff the needs of the organization and holds individuals accountable to the commitments individuals have made to the organization.
