SUMMARY:
Prepares and maintains anesthesia equipment and supplies for use in Surgical Services, under the immediate supervision of the RN, Charge RN, Lead Clinical Nurse, Assistant Manager, Director of Surgical Services, and Chief of Anesthesiology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains current CPR certification.
Demonstrates compliance with surgical attire policy.
Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
Reports significant observations to the Registered Nurse.
Prepares anesthesia equipment and supplies for children and adults in accordance with policy and procedures.
Understands the age specific needs for anesthesia supplies for infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Follows ASA, AAMI, AORN, and other governing standards and recommended practices for cleaning, reprocessing and stocking of anesthesia instruments, supplies and equipment.
Documents needed data collection for:
- monitoring sterilization
- tracking use of LMAs
- refrigerators logs
- Blood warmers, and other data needed for surveillance.
Documents in a legible, pertinent and concise manner.
Demonstrates understanding of the role of the Anesthesia Aide in a Code Blue.
Checks emergency equipment daily to ensure necessary equipment is in readiness for the physician, staff, and patient.
Checks Emergency Carts daily:
- Malignant Hyperthermia
- Pediatric and Adult Crash Carts
- Difficult Intubation Carts
- C-Section Carts on T-7
Checks and orders stock, supplies and equipment in a cost effective manner for Anesthesia, and other departments, as needed.
Floats to Inner Core, SSPD and other departments as needed.
Demonstrates computer entry skills for current programs.
Verbalizes understanding of anesthesia equipment.
Demonstrates proper cleaning of equipment and understanding of high level disinfection and sterilization principles.
Participates in community activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED, minimum one year Sterile Processing Department or Operating Room experience.
Familiarity with technical aspects of sterilization techniques and parameters.
Current BLS certification.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, squat/kneel for 1-3 hours per day, walk 3-7 hours per day, lift over 50lbs with good mechanics, twist/bend infrequently.
Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work that deviates from neutral position, and be able to perform fine motor skills.
Must have accurate near and far vision 20/20, depth perception and discriminate among colors. Must be able to hear whispers at 20 feet.

Pay Range:

$18.13-$29.90
