Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Integration and Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure data solutions within a NIST 800-53 compliant enclave in support of the FAA BNATCS contract. This role is responsible for developing and managing data integrations, delivering detailed process/architecture documentation, and optimizing the data warehouse platform to support analytics and mission-critical reporting for our customer. The successful candidate will possess the ability to deliver tangible solutions in a very fast paced and dynamic environment, while also demonstrating the ability to be decisive while ensuring proper communication.

*This is a telework capable position, however, candidates must reside within 100 miles of the DC Metro area.*

Key responsibilities may include:

Data Integration

    Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources into secure environments.
  • Ensure data flows comply with NIST 800-53 security controls and organizational policies.
  • Automate data ingestion and transformation processes for efficiency and scalability.
  • Familiarity and successful experience leveraging data integration tools.

Data Warehouse & Storage

  • Architect and maintain secure data warehouse solutions (on-premises and/or cloud).
  • Optimize storage, indexing, and query performance for large-scale datasets.
  • Implement encryption, access controls, and monitoring in line with NIST 800-53 requirements.

Security & Compliance

  • Integrate NIST 800-53 security controls into all data engineering and data warehousing processes.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure configurations and continuous monitoring.
  • Support audits, assessments, and accreditation processes (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with analytics team and customer to identify and deliver secure, reliable data solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on data engineering best practices in regulated environments.
  • Document processes, configurations, and compliance evidence for internal and external reviews.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience with a Bachelors, 10+ years of experience with a Masters, or 8+ years of experience with a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields
  • Understanding of NIST 800-53 security controls and compliance frameworks (FISMA, FedRAMP)
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with documented success in designing and delivering cross-cloud integrations and secure inter-domain data transfers
  • Hands-on experience with cloud management consoles such as Azure or AWS, including understanding of compute, storage, networking, access controls, etc.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (i.e. AWS S3, Redshift, Azure Synapse, ADLS) and understanding of various architectural patterns (data lake, data warehouse, lakehouse)
  • Familiarity with BI tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau) and optimization of data platforms in support of business intelligence delivery at scale
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust is a requirement for this role
  • This is a telework capable position, however, candidates must reside within 100 miles of the DC Metro local area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Alteryx experience/certification
  • Data engineering certifications (i.e. Azure, AWS)
  • Professional infosec certifications (i.e. CISSP, CISM)
  • Prior experience with Service Now integrations
  • Prior experience in delivering data integrations for AI applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Experience working in federal or regulated environments

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
