Job Description




As a Security Officer - Gatehouse Control in Lynchburg, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will greet visitors, verify credentials, issue badges, and manage entry points while monitoring alarms and site activity. You will conduct routine patrols, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and provide clear customer service and communication. You will thrive in an agile, reliable, and innovative team that puts people first and acts with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access to the manufacturing and industrial location by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining visitor, contractor, and delivery logs.
  • Operate access control systems to grant, deny, and/or revoke entry permissions in accordance with site procedures and Allied Universal guidelines.
  • Screen vehicles, deliveries, and packages as directed, including coordinating with shipping and receiving to route inbound and outbound traffic.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other security-related systems, and report irregular conditions per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications and documenting actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Complete detailed reports, shift logs, and access records, including incident documentation and follow-up communication with site contacts.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to employees, visitors, and drivers, helping to support orderly entry, exit, and traffic flow.
  • Support site emergency procedures as assigned, including assisting with accountability processes and coordinating access for responders when requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
