Overview

We are seeking a Business Development and Marketing Manager - Buildings, with at least 10+ years of experience for our Buildings Division in our Austin, TX or Tampa, FL office.

The BD+M Manager - Buildings plays a critical role in driving business development, client engagement, and operational excellence for the Buildings Division. This position will be responsible for developing new client relationships, fostering strong existing client relationships, leading the team that is responsible for seamless proposal execution, support strategic planning, and executing the BD+M business plan tactics to achieve annual business goals.This role collaborates with prospective clients/partners, existing clients, construction partners, firm leadership, technical teams, and business development professionals to implement strategic pursuit, interview, and presentation efforts.

Responsibilities

    Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching market trends, competitor activities, and emerging client needs. Leverage data analytics and CRM insights (AEC360) to inform growth strategies and target high-potential projects.
  • Develop and implement tailored Touchpoint Plans for key clients, ensuring regular engagement, tracking future opportunities, and maintaining detailed activity logs in AEC360.
  • Work with the corporate team to manage and maintain the CRM system (AEC360) data integrity; generate reports and insights for Buildings leadership. This includes the management of the BD Budget through the Event Module in AEC360.
  • Coordinate with other WGI divisions to better understand and enhance their market and how we can add other service lines into proposals (cross positioning and cross-selling).
  • Oversee proposal development, ensuring compliance, quality, and alignment with division goals. Participate in go/no-go decisions, team reviews, and support pursuit managers in crafting client-centric content.
  • Work closely with marketing, strategy, and operations teams to align business development efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Mentor and train staff on business development fundamentals, proposal best practices, and client engagement strategies.
  • Conduct internal sales meetings and client opportunity reviews for major clients.
  • Assist leadership with proactive communication related to business development efforts and successes as well as division-wide messaging.
  • Set clear, measurable goals for business development activities and proposal teams
  • Lead efforts to proactively update and maintain resumes, project descriptions, photos, and OTS materials.
  • Manage and support the management of proposal teams, including coordinators and specialists.
  • Oversee the development of AI by the proposal team and our Innovation team to develop tools and processes that optimize the proposal development process.
  • Oversee the proposal team's development of the division's annual BD+M training and development program and coordinate with the enterprise, where appropriate.
  • Oversee the QAQC process for proposal development and ensure it meets company compliance; includes Branding compliance
  • Develop and manage the division's conference plan to ensure appropriate attendance and guide planning efforts to maximize our attendees time at the conference, ie- Balance Client Engagement, Presenting, Recruiting, Scouting, Continuing Education, Positioning, and Participating.
  • Promote and participate in Local, Regional, and National BD+M organizations (ie. SMPS, APMP) to develop peer relationships, gather intel, develop/enhance our internal learning program, stay in tune with best practices, and support the career development of our proposal team.
  • Developing and managing our internal and external Marketing Campaigns for Buildings services (Structural Engineering (Vertical/Horizontal, Restoration), Architectural (Production, Prime/Program Management, Parking Planning/Consulting, and Parking Design) and MEP (Public and Private); includes publications and website.


Qualifications

Education & Experience, Skills and Communication:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in the A/E/C industry preparing proposals for federal, state, and municipal clients.
  • Related experience may be considered instead of the required education.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment.
  • Understanding of transportation agency work programs (FDOT, NCDOT, CFX, THEA, TxDOT).
  • Proficiency in AEC360 CRM, Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Word, InDesign, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational and project management skills, ability to lead meetings and train teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in business development, client engagement, and proposal management.
  • Proven track record of achieving business growth targets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptable to changing market dynamics and business priorities.
