Job Summary:

The Performance Coach supports the physical development of Academy players through the planning and delivery of strength & conditioning, athletic development, and performance monitoring. This role works closely with Academy coaches, medical staff, and sport science to ensure every player receives individualized, developmentally appropriate support. This is a full time, exempt position.
Responsibilities:
Player Development & Training


  • Deliver age-appropriate strength, speed, movement, and conditioning programs for Academy teams.
  • Lead on-field and gym-based athletic development programs aligned with club methodology.
  • Operate STATSports for daily load monitoring and reporting.



Performance Monitoring & Analysis


  • Collect and interpret data from:

    • STATSports GPS
    • Polar HR monitoring
    • VALD Suite (NordBord, ForceFrame, ForceDecks)


  • Support player profiling, readiness reporting, and long-term development plans.



Collaboration & Communication


  • Work with coaches, medical staff, and sport science to align physical preparation with team needs.
  • Participate in performance meetings and communicate insights clearly to staff, players, and families.
  • Educate players in recovery, nutrition, habits, and professionalism.



Qualifications:
Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Training, or related field.
  • Experience coaching youth or elite athletes in performance or athletic development.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems (preferably STATSports) and Polar HR monitoring.
  • Basic understanding of force diagnostics (VALD Suite) or willingness to learn.
  • Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performance environment.
  • Evening and weekend work required based on Academy schedule.
  • Travel required for MLS NEXT events, showcases, and tournaments.


Preferred


  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • CSCS, CPSS, or equivalent certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Soccer-specific experience (MLS NEXT, USSF pathways, or similar).
  • Experience delivering performance testing and tracking KPIs.
