OVERVIEW

Merrick is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit in our Greenwood Village, CO office. This dynamic multidisciplinary engineering group specializes in the design and fabrication support of one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment, and remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

Work with a team of engineers and designers within the equipment design group and interface with other disciplines (electrical, I&C, structural, HVAC, and process) to create design packages and provide fabrication support for custom equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • 3-D modeling
  • Creating and checking fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets, fabrication and procurement specifications, engineering studies, and calculations
  • Provide fabrication support, including answering Requests for Information (RFI) and creating Design Change Notices (DCN)
  • Adherence to schedule, budget, and quality assurance/quality control procedures
  • Coordination with other engineering disciplines
  • Participation in internal and external client meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Zero (0) - four (4) years of engineering experience
  • Experience or familiarity with 3D design software Creo (Pro Engineer), SolidWorks, Revit, or similar 3D modeling package
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification or pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam within two (2) years of employment
  • Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
  • Client projects for this position requires U.S. Citizenship

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with NRC, DOE, or DoD projects
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with Mathcad or equivalent calculation software
  • Familiarity with NQA-1-2000 quality assurance programs
  • Experience with fabrication support and testing
