The Associate General Counsel is a key team member in the Office of the General Counsel, reporting to and performing services under the direction of the Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for VCU Health System. Responsible for staffing a variety of complex transactional projects, applying subject matter expertise and supporting education and advancement of internal teams and processes. Provides legal advice and counsel to assigned internal clients and business units, ensuring efficient and effective operations of in-house legal services.

Education Preferred: N/A Licensure Preferred: N/A Certification Required:N/A Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: A minimum of 5 years of legal work experience with a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably performing legal services for healthcare organizations. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: N/A Supervisory responsibilities: May supervise employees including Assistant General Counsel and/or Paralegal Hires, trains, mentors assigned staff. Keeps employees abreast of priorities, activities, and procedural/policies changes. Analyzes policies, procedures, and workflow/processes and makes appropriate recommendations for changes.
