What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Architect and Design Manager to join our Infrastructure Organization, Pre-Development Team. We're seeking an experienced, hands-on professional with strong architectural and project management skills, capable of leading design efforts for complex industrial and commercial facilities. The ideal candidate can manage projects independently while collaborating closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary team.
What You'll Do
- Lead the architectural scope of industrial facility projects, from feasibility through construction, ensuring alignment with Tesla's design standards, technical requirements, and performance goals
- Perform feasibility and techno-economic studies to support project definition, budgeting, and early decision-making
- Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders-manufacturing, construction, operations, and facilities-to develop fully integrated design solutions
- Prepare, review, and oversee design documentation including plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules for Permit and Construction packages
- Manage consultants and support the procurement process by reviewing design proposals, deliverables, and technical specifications
- Work with estimating and cost engineering teams to develop test-fits, scope narratives, and quantities for reliable cost projections
- Support construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and resolving field issues efficiently and collaboratively
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience delivering large commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities (manufacturing or data center experience preferred)
- Professional Architect (RA)
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Enscape, and Adobe Suite
- Thorough understanding of building codes, permitting processes, and construction coordination
- Strong ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects with minimal oversight
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders
- Creative problem-solver with a practical, buildable approach to design

Expected Compensation
$76,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
