Title: Associate, Mergers & Acquisitions Location: Houston, TX (Must be in the office at least two days a week) Employer: AES Clean Energy Services, LLC RESPONSIBILITIES: Initiate deals and lead meetings with sellers, and other stakeholders to discuss deal opportunities. Lead the due diligence on potential acquisitions (either projects and/or pipelines and up to three live deals at the same time) with different teams (including but not limited development, accounting, compliance, tax, engineering, financial, legal, construction and operation), Q&A process and efforts with internal subject matter experts and external consultants. Lead commercial management and due diligence of transactions involving equipment sale and transfers. Analyze and compare prospective M&A transactions and investments under the direction of transaction leaders, including strategic and financial impacts and risks. Work closely with AES Valuation and Structured Finance teams to review valuation models, including earnings models, to assess individual projects or businesses. Maintain internal tools and processes for tracking all active, inactive, and closed M&A deal activities. Lead M&A efforts in a specific region, designated by the Manager, and coordinate potential opportunities with commercial and development teams. QUALIFICATIONS: Job requires a Bachelor's degree in Energy Systems (any field), Engineering (any field), Energy Finance, or a related field and 2 years of experience in any occupation involving renewable energy, energy finance, or a related field. Job requires 2 years of experience in each of the following: Experience operating and interpreting financial models to analyze and compare prospective Renewable Energy M&A asset transactions and investments. Gathering, validation, analysis and synthesis of data from public and confidential sources with collaboration across various subject matter teams. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis using Excel and advanced data analysis tools such as R and Python to drive internal decision making, and data management/warehousing. Preparation of presentations, executive summaries, and reports to communicate findings of analysis and recommendations to senior leadership and external parties. Job requires 1 year of experience in each of the following: Renewable Energy development experience focused on utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Knowledge of mechanics and key value drivers for renewable energy assets in US Wholesale Electricity Markets including ISO/RTO markets and traditionally regulated market. Renewable energy commercial origination experience with knowledge of key Commercial & Industrial, and utility offtakers by market and associated energy revenue price indicators; experience supporting Requests for Proposals for commercial offtake.
