About the Opportunity:

To perform all aspects necessary for the welding processes used in the manufacturing of Turbine Engine components while providing direction and communications to other employees to ensure that the parts flow meets or exceeds the customer requirements.

Location: Manchester, CT

This role will be onsite 100% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, guide and direct department workflow and personnel as needed to meet customer schedule.
  • Coordinate product flow and assign work as needed to keep productivity high and parts moving.
  • Able to saw, polish, etch and evaluate the welds.
  • Able to use precision measuring equipment.
  • Able to set up the resistance welder and control panel from certification test data and process sheets.
  • Assist in opening and closing the machine.
  • Make the production run either spot, seam or tack welding.
  • Make the close-out test on the welder
  • Able to read and interpret prints involving weld symbols.
  • Able to set up and operate all of the resistance welding machines.
  • Have knowledge of the metals to be welded.
  • Able to make new schedules per customer specifications.
  • Able to determine tooling required for new jobs.
  • Determine the tooling and control settings for new jobs from the prints and specifications.
  • Run certification and qualification test including result comparison to specifications.
  • Determine the reasons failer to run a certification test and qualification test and\or failure to maintain quality production resistance welds.
  • Make production runs as directed.
  • Check welds and parts visually and metallurgically for conformance with certifications, prints and specifications.
  • Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Train and communicate with employees and assist the shift supervisor in communications and other tasks as required.
  • This job has supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Trade/technical school graduate, High School diploma or GED
  • Five or more years of welding experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have a proven track record of successful interactions with other employees throughout the organization as demonstrated through good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate material and train employees in a clear and concise manner either through written or verbal instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge in one or more of the work centers.
  • Self-starter, independent and able to lead others in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of 6S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to keep work flowing at the required quality and productivity levels to ensure the company goals are met.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and set expectations for others.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic that shows a commitment to quality, continuous improvement, safety, productivity and safety.
  • Possess solid English skills.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
