Job Description:
Cydecor is seeking Cybersecurity Engineers (Entry to Senior Level) to support cybersecurity assessment, authorization, and engineering activities for the U.S. Navy's PMW 160 Tactical Networks program. These positions help safeguard and strengthen the Navy's enterprise-scale shipboard LAN/WAN tactical networks which enable secure Fleet communications and mission-critical operations across multiple security domains.
Cybersecurity Engineers will support the evaluation of PMW 160 systems against evolving cybersecurity requirements, and Navy patching compliance standards. They will develop cybersecurity authorization packages, conduct validation testing to ensure security controls are functioning properly, and perform vulnerability assessments using tools like Nessus, ACAS, and SCAP.
These positions also contribute to cybersecurity engineering efforts by supporting Cross Domain Solution (CDS) certifications, Trusted Thin Client (TTC) implementations, analyzing new system design concepts, identifying cyber risks, and helping transition DoN Information Assurance (IA) products into PMW 160 networks. Cybersecurity Engineers will play a critical role in strengthening the Navy's defensive posture, ensuring secure capability delivery, and maintaining the accreditation and resilience of PMW 160 systems across the Fleet.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cybersecurity Assessment & Authorization (A&A)
- Support initial installation and recurring cybersecurity assessments for Navy lab and platform networks.
- Evaluate systems against evolving cybersecurity requirements including NIST 800-53, STIGs, SCAP, and vulnerability/patch standards.
- Support Assessment & Authorization events and prepare all required security artifacts.
- Create cybersecurity authorization packages using Navy-mandated tools
Cybersecurity Engineering & Validation
- Perform validation testing to ensure security features and safeguards function properly.
- Conduct Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) support for cybersecurity products integrated into PMW 160 systems.
- Provide detailed analyses of new system design concepts to identify security requirements, vulnerabilities, threat vectors, and risk factors.
Risk, Vulnerability, & Compliance Analysis
- Perform threat and vulnerability risk assessments on PMW 160 systems.
- Use vulnerability scanning tools to identify security gaps and assess STIG compliance.
- Recommend corrective actions when cybersecurity requirements are not met.
- Evaluate end-of-life/ end-of-service components and impacts to authorized baselines.
Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) / Trusted Thin Client (TTC)
- Provide technical support for CDS certifications and prepare accreditation materials.
- Offer subject matter expertise on CDS technologies and Trusted Thin Client solutions.
Cybersecurity Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare technical papers, analyses, reports, and briefs to communicate risks and mitigation options.
- Participate in program reviews, working groups, and acceptance tests, providing cybersecurity-focused technical feedback.
- Monitor external cybersecurity development efforts and support integration into PMW 160 tactical networks.
Here's what you need:
Cybersecurity Engineer I - Entry Level
- 0-3 years of cybersecurity, information assurance, or IT security experience.
- Basic knowledge of NIST cybersecurity controls, STIGs, vulnerability scanning, or security assessment tools.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity documentation, reporting, or RMF concepts.
- Exposure to Navy systems, DoD cybersecurity, or IT networks is a plus.
Cybersecurity Engineer II - Mid Level
- 3-7 years of experience supporting cybersecurity engineering or A&A activities.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and interpreting results.
- Experience preparing cybersecurity artifacts or supporting RMF packages.
- Ability to assess cybersecurity risks, support validation testing, and recommend mitigation steps.
- Strong understanding of STIG application, patching, and compliance workflows.
Cybersecurity Engineer III - Senior Level
- 7-12 years of cybersecurity engineering, A&A, or cyber risk analysis experience supporting DoD/Navy systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead A&A efforts, perform complex cybersecurity assessments, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience with CDS accreditation, TTC security concepts, or multi-domain security architectures.
- Strong background in threat assessments, vulnerability analysis, and security architecture development.
- Ability to advise government leadership and mentor junior engineers.
Desired:
- Experience with Navy tactical networks
- Experience with NIWC PAC/LANT cybersecurity activities.
- Certifications such as Security+, CYSA+, CASP+, CISSP, CEH, GSEC, or CISM.
- Experience supporting RMF, A&A, or cyber accreditation at any classification level.
- Experience with CDS technologies, TTC environments, or cross-domain security architectures.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, cyber test events, or cyber engineering change proposals (ECPs).
Security Clearance:
- Active Secret clearance required.
- TS/SCI preferred for advanced cyber assessments and higher-classification environments.
Education:
- Level 1-3: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's degree preferred for senior (Level 3) roles.
- Equivalent military cybersecurity or technical experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday-Friday.
- Primary place of performance is San Diego, CA, work locations could also include:
- Washington, D.C.
- Norfolk, VA
- Charleston, SC
Compensation and Benefits:
The projected compensation range for this position is $80,000 - 165,000. There are numerous factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the role, work location, education/certifications, and a contract's Labor Categories.
