We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Safety Inspection Assistant Project Manager to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Springfield, VA.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating bridge safety inspection projects
  • Support field inspection teams by preparing documentation, reviewing reports, and ensuring adherence to inspection protocols
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful completion
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to provide updates and resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for submission to state and federal authorities
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations throughout all phases of the project

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in bridge inspection, transportation infrastructure, and project management
  • FHWA-NHI Training and certifications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license
  • FHWA-approved Bridge Inspection Training
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
