Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Social Worker - (FGP), Manhattan Float, OB/GYN - Fetal Surgery.

A full time position responsible for providing social work services to patients in the Advanced Fetal Care Center and Fetal Cardiology. This individual will provide counseling & therapy to patients who qualify for such treatment as well as education & guidance regarding additional services available as appropriate and indicated. The LCSW will work closely with physicians, nurses and other clinical/non-clinical staff on a daily basis, assisting as necessary to address the social needs of patients within NYU Langone Health to ensure they have a high quality experience throughout their care process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments to identify emotional, social, and environmental barriers related to their treatment and/or life situation.
  • Collaborate with the health care team and outside agencies, such as law enforcement, social service providers and partner organizations, and faith based groups to provide social services to patients as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues and social services that impact on patient care.
  • Adheres to health system and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards.
  • Develop and maintain regularly scheduled support groups.
  • Provide education and orientation for staff, as required
  • Provide consultations to other health care professionals.
  • Maintain records in accordance with department policies. Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings
  • Participate and represent social work perspective in multidisciplinary teams
  • Make referrals as appropriate and serve as resource for the health care team

  • Facilitate the care plan across a multidisciplinary care continuum, which includes interacting with consulting physicians, other health care providers, and third-party payers to facilitate movement of the patient through the system.
  • Involve the patient in the development and implementation of their care plans which includes but is not limited to creating a series of steps that can yield immediate tangible results by building upon the patients strengths and changing views on perceived weaknesses and challenges.
  • Provide crisis oriented psychotherapy and brief, short-term and long-term psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic treatment to individuals, couples, families and groups, habilitation, psychoanalysis and behavior therapy; all for the purpose of preventing, assessing, treating, ameliorating and resolving psychosocial dysfunction with the goal of maintaining and enhancing the mental, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning and well-being of individuals, couples, families, small groups, organizations, communities and society.
  • Develop and implement appropriate assessment-based treatment plan; an integrated plan of prioritized interventions based on the diagnosis and psychosocial assessment of the client, to address mental, emotional, behavioral, developmental and addictive disorders, impairments and disabilities, reactions to illnesses, injuries, disabilities and impairments, and social problems.
  • Diagnose mental, emotional, behavioral, addictive and developmental disorders and disabilities and the psychosocial aspects of illness, injury, disability and impairment undertaken within a psychosocial framework.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Requires travel - Manhattan

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Education/Certification Requirements: MSW, LMSW or LCSW.

Required Licenses: Lic Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Social Worker - NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in social work and broad background with diverse populations in a medical facility. OB/GYN/Cardiology or Pediatric experience preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,930.99 - $101,655.97 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
