Summary of Position/Purpose:

The Margin Optimization Specialist plays a critical part in enhancing our company's profitability through oversight of several key elements of our gross margin. This role will be responsible for rebate management, freight recovery, surplus inventory, and customer pricing agreements. The role will monitor and co-ordinate initiatives, provide actionable recommendations to customer-facing teams, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive margin improvement. This is a great opportunity to own and help deliver a key initiative for the company.


Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:

  • Identify margin improvement opportunities in customer pricing and recommend changes
  • Monitor progress towards rebate targets and proactively recommend actions to help us achieve those targets
  • Monitor freight recovery initiatives and collaborate with customer-facing teams to manage our freight programs
  • Track rebate payments and initiate follow-ups where appropriate
  • Manage the surplus inventory pricing process, including monitoring sell rates
  • Indirectly responsible for product quality
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 2+ years' experience in a process-management role
  • Highly organized and able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with reporting tools and systems, including confidence working in Excel
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and advocate for process improvements
  • Good working mathematics skills
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and communication skills


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
