MAKE STRATEGY A REALITY | ACCELERATE YOUR GROWTH | CHOOSE YOUR PATH

As the world's leading change and transformation consultancy, we're helping businesses move from strategy to reality by taking a pragmatic and practical approach to build solutions that last.

We're seeking a Director in Houston in our Energy & Utilities Portfolio to help us take vision to value and create lasting impact.

SUMMARY

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape strategy, lead high-performing teams, and drive growth across one of our most dynamic and influential business units. In this position, you will be the face of North Highland at a major global energy client's Houston headquarters. This hybrid role blends high-level delivery leadership with entrepreneurial business development. You'll build authentic relationships, understand client pain points, and identify opportunities to solve complex challenges. You'll walk the halls, connect with executives, and mobilize teams to deliver real results.

At North Highland, the world's leading change and transformation consultancy, we transform bold strategies into lasting results through our pragmatic, human-centered approach. By combining exceptional talent with innovative technology, we deliver enduring impact for our clients. These enduring principles remain constant as we evolve and grow, forming the essence of what makes North Highland exceptional. Join us in creating meaningful transformation that endures.

YOU WILL:

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner at the client's Houston HQ, blending leadership in delivery with entrepreneurial business development.

  • Act as Engagement Leader on key projects, leveraging core consulting skills (Project Management, Change Management, Strategy) to ensure solutions deliver real results.

  • Identify and capitalize on white space for growth, translating client challenges into North Highland solutions and expanding our reach across functions and departments.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor teams of talented consultants, guiding junior staff to achieve their career goals and nurturing future leaders.

  • Own the account strategy, manage the P&L for a $10M+ portfolio, and drive the vision for the North Highland-client partnership with autonomy and accountability.

IDEALLY, WE'D LIKE:

  • 7+ years of management consulting experience, ideally with Big 4 or top-tier advisory firms, with a consistent track record of excellence in delivery.

  • Proven experience originating and scoping projects, or a strong desire to build and grow new business.

  • Deep local connections in Houston and willingness to be highly visible on-site. Strong understanding of Houston's Energy sector and business culture.

  • High EQ with the ability to build trust at all levels. Respected by teams and executives alike; a natural relationship builder.

  • Experience leading teams or workstreams and managing direct reports. Passion for developing others; former team members seek your mentorship.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.

Total Rewards associated with this position include a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Enjoy medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as a 401(k) and parental leave. Unique perks like student loan repayment, flexible time off, learning and development opportunities, adoption and fertility support, and tuition reimbursement are designed to help you grow both personally and professionally.
