Senior Center Operator 1 (Local Government) (Part-Time) - Potter County Area Agency on Aging

As a Senior Center Operator 1, you will be organizing, planning, and scheduling activities for consumers 60 years of age and older. Work involves recruiting participants for nutrition programs, organizing transportation for participants, and checking daily food delivery. You will also be responsible for scheduling informational presentations, arranging for custodial services to maintain the center, stimulating social interaction through informal contact with consumers, and when appropriate referring consumers to other agencies for additional benefits and services. Additional responsibilities may include:

• Preparing home-delivered meals
• Recruiting and training volunteers
• Overseeing fundraisers
• Ensuring accurate record retention
• Lifting 50 pounds, as necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment, maximum of 18 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Potter County. If no eligible candidates who live within Potter County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
