DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will design, develop, and implement a vocational barber training program, including developing and updating the curriculum. You will supervise and instruct inmate barber students as they provide barbering services to other inmates within the facility. Responsibilities include teaching the proper use of razors, scissors, combs, brushes, and other barbering tools. You will manage and maintain inventories of chemicals and tools, interview prospective student barbers, and recommend candidates for program admission. Additionally, you will maintain enrollment, progress, and completion records. You will also have technical authority to determine and order the tools and supplies necessary for instruction and barbering services.

- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
