Job Summary
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the area of power electronics and energy conversion systems for battery energy storage systems. The successful candidate will work on the development and integration of battery energy storage systems, develop control methodologies for the optimal operation of battery energy storage systems for critical applications.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with lithium-ion batteries, testing and performance validation of batteries, power converters for energy storage and charging circuits.
  • Experience with design and implementation of energy and battery management systems. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python programming.
  • Expertise in power electronics simulation software including Matlab, PSIM, PLECS and PSCAD.
  • Power electronics hardware design, PCB design and testing for varied power levels.


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering and closely related areas.
  • Experience in power electronics applications in energy conversion and usage.
  • Understanding of battery energy storage technologies and system integration.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  • Laboratory research on battery systems integration. Develop power conversions systems, control methodologies and integration strategies for energy storage devices
  • Capability development in system integration.
