Under general supervision of Trauma Program Manager, the Quality Improvement HC Specialist 3 is responsible for reviewing and documenting trauma patient demographic and clinical information and entering into the Trauma Registry database. Involves use of: ICD-10 coding of diagnosis and Abbreviated Injury Scale. Identifies basic performance improvement issues. Applies physiologic, anatomic, and trauma clinical theory to abstract and analyze each trauma case. Develops and presents basic trauma educational courses for IMU/floor nurses caring for trauma patients. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support for policies. This position is mostly computer work and not direct patient care.
