Chief Engineer - AC/MC-130 R-EGI Integration Study
Description IS4S is seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to lead the technical execution of the AC-130J / MC-130J R-EGI Integration Study, and to shape the technical baseline for potential follow-on integration efforts. The Chief Engineer will serve as the primary technical authority across all engineering IPTs, subcontractor partners, and system architecture activities, and will function as the principal technical interface to AFLCMC, the R-EGI Program Office, and platform stakeholders. This role is responsible for ensuring technical rigor, requirements traceability, system architecture alignment, integration feasibility, and Model-Based Systems Engineering consistency across all work products and deliverables. In addition, the position will contribute to the technical strategy, architecture definition, and proposal development activities necessary to successfully position IS4S for a potential follow-on R-EGI integration contract. This is a senior leadership role positioned at the core of a high-visibility prototyping and integration initiative supporting SOF, AFSOC, and broader Air Force mission requirements. Job Roles * Serve as lead technical authority for the AC/MC R-EGI Study * Lead engineering architecture development, trade studies, and analysis * Provide integration leadership across avionics, PNT, and aircraft systems * Validate feasibility of R-EGI integration solutions for AC-130J and MC-130J platforms * Support capture/proposal content, technical volumes, basis-of-estimate inputs, and design concept definition associated with a potential integration and modification phase * Ensure technical consistency across all subcontractor inputs and IPTs * Work closely with government stakeholders and technical authorities * Approve engineering assumptions, approaches, and methodologies * Own the technical baseline and system architectural direction * Lead technical risk management, mitigation strategies, and decision packages * Ensure traceability to requirements, interfaces, architectures, and deliverables * Oversee technical reviews and readiness for Design Review-related events * Support preparation of technical briefings and formal deliverables * Provide technical mentorship to IS4S and subcontractor engineering personnel * Maintain alignment with DoD acquisition, certification, airworthiness, and test processes * Provide engineering leadership in transitioning the study results into executable integration work, including aircraft modification planning, qualification pathways, and technical leadership during follow-on implementation Required Experience * 10+ years in avionics systems, mission systems, navigation systems, or aerospace integration * Experience with Air Force aircraft modification or avionics integration * Experience with systems engineering including requirements, ICDs, and architecture * Experience with major DoD air platforms (preferably SOF) * Experience with formal technical reviews and DoD engineering processes * Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams * Ability to interface with senior government and industry stakeholders * Strong understanding of aircraft mission profiles and operational relevance * Completion of DAWIA Level II training (Systems Engineering or Test) * Certified Software Test Professional Level 2 (CSTP-2) * National Test Pilot School - T&E 4201 * Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances Desired Experience * Prior AC-130, MC-130, C-130, R-EGI, or avionics modernization experience * Experience with AFLCMC or PEO Digital programs * Experience with SOF aviation platforms or AFSOC operations * Experience with DO-178/DO-254 or airworthiness evaluation * MBSE/Cameo/SysML experience * Experience managing subcontractor technical teams * Experience in prototype integration or early phase development * Flight test or developmental test background * Familiarity with GPS, M-Code, INS, or PNT architectures * Experience with integration of navigation receivers (SAASM, M-Code, R-EGI) Benefits Summary: This position can be tailored for either a full-time (40 hrs per week minimum) remote position with benefits; or a part-time (40 hrs per week maximum) remote position without benefits. If a full-time position is selected by the candidate, the following benefits would apply.
