We deliver on our mission through managing regulatory programs that maintain standards for air, water and soil quality while providing assistance to businesses and communities in areas ranging from recreation to waste management. We manage the state park system and programs to inventory, interpret and protect Tennessees rich natural, historical, and archaeological heritage.

How you make a difference in this role:

Manages all aspects of the golf program by organizing, promoting and overseeing the golf host program, lesson programs, junior golf programs, golf leagues, club competitions, group and individual programs; coordinating and recruiting tournaments; managing the handicap services program; maintaining knowledge of teaching methodologies.

Job Overview:

1. Manages administrative aspects of the golf program by creating and following an annual departmental budget, preparing tournament and league reconciliation for account tracking. Develops and implements strategic approaches to aggressively drive golf revenue sales, marketing and net revenue plans. 2. Market the golf program by creating and developing promotions and special events through advertising, coupons, etc. 3. Oversees golf merchandise operations, including purchasing, pricing and display; creating merchandise sales, promotions and discounts; preparing inventory and cost of sales reports. 4. Utilizes tee sheet demand management used by all of the Tennessee State Park golf courses. Implements and supports all Tennessee State Parks golf initiatives and programs as well as all Tennessee State Parks general initiatives as they can be applied to the golf operation. -See more on Job Spec.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to five or more years of increasingly responsible full-time turf grass management or golf course experience including, at least, one year of supervisory experience. Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time golf course or turf experience may be substituted for the required high school education, on a year-to-year basis. OR Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in either horticulture, agronomy, plant science, or related acceptable field including, at least, twelve quarter hours in turf management and one year of supervisory experience in golf course and/or turf management. Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time golf course or turf management experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years. OR Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and two years of increasingly responsible full-time turf grass management or golf course experience including, at least, one year of supervisory experience.
