DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship, you will have the opportunity to support mechanics in developing the essential skills required for safe and efficient operations within an automotive garage environment. As a student worker, you will acquire practical knowledge related to general repairs and maintenance of cars and light trucks. Your responsibilities will include assisting with various repair tasks and maintenance activities, as well as performing them independently once you have demonstrated the necessary understanding and proficiency. You will be trained to use a range of tools, including power, hand, and air tools, ensuring that you are well-equipped to handle the demands of the job. Additionally, maintaining a clean and organized work area, along with proper care for tools and equipment, will be part of your duties. It is crucial to engage actively by asking questions whenever you face uncertainties or encounter new challenges. Throughout your internship, you will be expected to consistently practice and adhere to established safety procedures, ensuring a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
- High School Internship for the 2025-2026 School Year - Beginning 09/02/25 - 06/30/26.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating that you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to the use of the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
