Job Summary

This position provides administrative support to the Pain Medicine Fellowship Program within the Division of Pain Medicine. The division has 9 faculty, 6 clinical fellows, and serves as a fourth-year medical student course. The professional will manage day-to-day administrative functions of fellowship coordination. Provide leadership for the development and implementation of strategic plans. Serve as administrative support to the Division's Fellowship Program Director, Assistant Program Director(s), Senior Fellow(s), and fellows. Monitor adherence to University, ACGME, and American Board policies and procedures. Liaison with Risk Management on legal issues of fellows.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 Years of Work Experience.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint, ERAS, Residency Management Software such as MedHub and Thalamus other computer programs to produce documents, forms, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse background.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and to work with multiple executives.
  • Skills to assimilate complex data sets to develop data findings, conclusions and recommendations. Ability to be professional to effectively work with individuals at all levels; ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and discretion; high degree of motivation and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to be optimistic, positive and supportive in all interactions with others.
  • Ability to meet both short and long-term deadlines with a minimum of supervision and with initiative and imagination.
  • Ability to prepare questionnaires and other survey instruments. Ability to gather, compile, and analyze research date, and to present data in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form.
  • Ability to prepare and work clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills with special attention to detail. Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task and thoughtfully prioritize projects.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to independently problem-solve and make decisions but also know when to consult supervisory personnel when necessary. Knowledge of or willingness to learn administrative requirements of sponsors.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage numerous complex activities with overlapping deliverables and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Business Administration or a related field plus two years' experience providing administrative support is preferred; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience (totaling 6 years).
  • Work experience working with educational programs.
  • Experience working with academic personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to create board level presentations.
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • Prior experience in a health care setting preferred
  • Knowledge of the University's research policies and procedures

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
