Responsible for mammalian toxicology and risk assessment support of the various Health and Bioscience product lines (Bioengineered polymers, dietary supplements, probiotics, and Home and Personal Care) used across numerous markets through close cooperation with different functions, including commercial, marketing, and R&D. Review new and existing products and processes, as well as develop recommendations on required and appropriate toxicology data collection and research. Interface with business R&D, Regulatory, and Commercial/Marketing functions to define appropriate information needed based on business plans and development opportunities. Develop toxicology testing plans to support registrations or defense of products. Compose toxicology sections of regulatory dossiers, e.g., novel foods, GRAS, etc. Provide advice and testing strategy for global chemical regulatory requirements (i.e., EU REACH, USEPA FIFRA/TSCA, Canadian PMRA/DSL, and recent China and Korea programs) for purposes of product testing and registration. Translate complex toxicological information into recommendations and clear messages for a wide range of scientific to non-scientific audiences. Provide issue management support for products and substances across key external stakeholder groups through active participation in trade associations and via advocacy with governmental agencies. Represent the company on multiple trade associations e.g., ACI, AISE, ETA, AMFEP, IFAC, IAFNS, etc.
What Makes You the Right Fit
Ph.D. in Toxicology (or equivalent), ideally with 10+ years of relevant experience, including expertise in EU REACH registrations. -
Strong knowledge of risk assessment procedures, toxicology testing methodologies, chemical control legislation, and hazard classification. International regulatory experience is highly desirable. Ability to function in a commercial environment with tight deadlines. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage rapidly changing work assignments. Strong project management skills and ability manage multiple projects simultaneously. Self-starter and team player with the ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to address regulatory and safety challenges. Excellent written and oral communications skills, with fluency in English. Willingness to travel as required.
How Would You Stand Out?
Good knowledge of organic and polymer chemistry is preferred. Experience or practical knowledge in an industry sector (e.g. Health, Personal Care) is a plus.
