What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for an energetic, forward-thinking engineer or scientist to join our Bellevue, Washington office. You should be organized, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to grow professionally.

This position offers a variety of office and field activities to support our environmental and solid waste clients. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated quick learner who is eager to provide value to our clients and team, who is able to work independently, and who has a strong desire to grow and develop professionally. Initially, the position is more field-oriented because field activities are an important basis for understanding the science and career growth in this area of work. A mixture of fieldwork and work in our Bellevue office is expected.



How you can make an impact

    Coordinate and manage fieldwork for multiple projects. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, regulators, and clients as directed.
  • Oversee contractors during field activities for regulatory and safety compliance, including drilling activities involving monitoring well installation, borehole logging, well development, gas extraction wells, and sampling.
  • Record data during field work, which could include, but not limited to, soil characteristics, groundwater and surface water data, photographs, and summaries of visual observations through photography and written field logs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Multi-media sampling (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, indoor air, methane, surface water, sediment, etc.).
  • Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations to ensure compliance with construction documents.
  • Evaluate and interpret data recorded during field work for reporting purposes and to help determine future project needs in coordination with the project manager.
  • Prepare and assist with reports, permit applications and/or regulatory agency submittals and responses with supporting documentation as requested. Prepare text, tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches, and/or figures.
  • Prepare calculations for applications and reports and in support of design documents, including applicable modeling, as requested.
  • Coordinate with CAD drafters/designers for design plans/figures or use AutoCAD for basic design plans/figures.
  • Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, design plans, design calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.
  • Participate in health and safety training as required.
  • Ensure adherence to client and company policies in all activities including health and safety, security, ethics, and confidentiality.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or geology preferred.
  • If no degree, then you must have a minimum of 1 year of related environmental or engineering experience required. If you have a bachelor's degree, then no experience is required.
  • Progress towards professional licensing (EIT or GIT) preferred.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in both office and field; greater than 50% fieldwork during portions of the year.
  • Ability to work independently in the field at job sites, and with others in a collaborative team environment, along with the ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects with successful time management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software suites required.
  • Detail-oriented and a team player with good communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent documentation, organizational and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to transmit complex technical concepts to non-technical clients.
  • HAZWOPER training preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Valid driver's license with driving record in good standing required.


Pay Range

USD $30.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
