Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Examines and cares for children and adults with eye problems. Performs skilled eye examinations under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs moderately complex ophthalmic diagnostic tests (e.g., patient history, visual acuity, lensometry, tonometry, and basic sensorimotor assessments).
  • Conducts ophthalmic imaging procedures as directed by clinical staff.
  • Accurately records all test results and documentation, including instilling diagnostic eye drops and capturing external eye photographs.
  • Supports departmental regulatory compliance, adhering to safety practices and standards set by the institution, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other governing bodies.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree AND current enrollment in an Orthoptic fellowship program accredited by the American Orthoptic Council program.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
