Department Summary Facilities Management: Supporting the University's mission by creating an environment where students, faculty, and staff can thrive. We aim to maintain and improve campus buildings, grounds, and infrastructure through responsive, efficient, and customer focused services Position Summary Perform routine and semi-skilled tasks related to the plumbing trade in the maintenance, alteration and repair of building systems and related facilities equipment. Under the general or direct supervision of a journey-level crafts person or Manager of Hospital Zone, independently or as part of a crew, run the sewer jet to clean sewer and storm drains, clean out sediment traps in waste system, and appropriately use and maintain sewer jet equipment. Perform various other routine or semi-skilled duties related to construction trades including those tasks normally performed by a Facilities Worker. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications* General and working knowledge of various tools, equipment and supplies of the plumbing trade sufficient to provide routine assistance to journeymen Plumbers. (Required) Ability to make minor repairs, replacements, or installations using a variety of trade skills and equipment/tools. Ability to read blueprints. (Required) Ability to operate a drain line video camera and a pipe depth locator highly preferred. (Preferred) Certified in the abatement of hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, and mold highly preferred (Preferred) Ability to operate a sewer jetter following established procedures and safety practices. (Required) Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with co-workers, staff and departmental staff. (Required) Ability to read and comprehend English text required to comprehend work orders, reports, operating instructions clearly and accurately. (Required) Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g. dirty, noisy, etc. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. (Required) Ability to stand, crawl, walk, and stoop, push, pull and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs, heavier with assistance. (Required) Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team (Required) Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction (Required) Ability to work overtime and weekends.
