The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is possibly looking for a Senior Marine Engineering Technician (At Sea Lead) to provide support for our government customer in Oahu, HI.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Senior Marine Engineering Technician shall oversee the operations and maintenance of the contracted vessel on a day-to-day basis and be located full-time in Oahu, Hawaii.
  • Will supervise all preservation, cleaning, maintenance, fabrication, upgrade/expansion, and repair duties, including supervising the employees on the contract.
  • Additional duties shall include riding the vessel during all at-sea missions to lead all at-sea employee operations including performing deck and rigging tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs.
  • Responsible for supervising the additional seven (7) employees who are required while underway.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Completed 2-year Technical School desired.
  • Training, certifications, and/or licensure in firefighting, ship damage control, crane operation, forklift operation, man lift operation, first aid, automatic external defibrillators, CPR, and food service supervisor/manager training.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience should be in a supervisory role responsible for a group of technicians performing work similar in scope.
  • Three (3) years relevant work experience such as including at-sea vessel operations (deck, rigging, and line handling tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs), in-port operations (rigging, crane operation, forklift operation, man lift operation), and maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, fabrication, installation, operational and testing support of HM&E (Hull, mechanical and electrical) systems, such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems, Load bank, Switch hear, Paralleling system, Power Distribution System.
  • Experience should be focused in hull, mechanical and electrical systems.

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten (10) years of relevant work experience or combination of technical school.
  • Experience in project management and planning desired. Program Management experience running a large support services contract with multiple subcontractors.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance
